Memoirs of a Frenchman

With much (much much) relentless prodding from his annoying daughter, my dad is slowly working on his memoirs. He has lead such an interesting life and I'm excited to read about it. I think it is something that could totally get published, although that's not his aim. What I do know is that he is an incredible person with an incredible story to tell.  He was born in France during WWII, moved to America with his whole family in the 1950's, got drafted and was a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam, went back to school on the GI Bill and met my mom, spent two years in the Peace Corps in Africa, earned his PhD in Comparative Literature, and moved to Texas to be a college professor.  And that's all before I came along to shake things up!

Here's some background on his parents

France during the war

Coming to America

Moving to Kentucky

Learning to ride horses

Getting drafted

More about Vietnam

Learning to speak English

Thoughts on life after an accident that left him with a spinal cord injury
