If You Want To Have Cities, You've Got To Build Roads

Things I have managed (purposefully or accidentally) to get past airport security in the past year:
-A full-size bottle of shampoo
-A pocket knife
-Mace

Things that have been confiscated from me by airport security in the last year:
-Nail clippers
-A 4oz bottle of face lotion from Trader Joe's

Because obviously, if you can get more than 3oz of lotion onto a plane, the terrorists have won.

Security theatre is ridiculous.

I take full sized products though security all the time. In fact, last time they asked me is I had liquids in my bag, I said yes, and then they moved on to the next person without checking my bag.

My friend had her eyelash curler taken away at security once. The guy didn't understand what it was and decided to confiscate it to be on the safe side.

That is hilarious. Annoying and stupid, but hilarious.

I hate how inconsistent security is at airports. When we were traveling with baby formula and packets of pureed food, some airports never stopped us at all, while other airports made us empty the entire contents of my carry-on and did a bomb swab test thingy just to make sure the formula (in individual packets, mind you) won't kill. Sigh.

Ugh. I can't even read about the TSA without getting upset. I just wish they were reasonable.

And then there's the whole: a terrorist sneaks a bomb onto a plane in their shoes, so we all have to take our shoes off. A man shoots 20+ first graders, and we're probably not even going to have a discussion about mental illness and/or gun culture. Ugh.

We have the most inconsistent security system ever apparently. I get stuff through (accidentally, almost always) each time I travel and they never seem to know. I wonder if it is because I am so good about trying to follow the rules they don't even check my bags again? who knows.

That is strange that you got an entire bottle of shampoo through! I have never got anything through that I should have, or had anything confiscated!
