Week in Review via Instagram Pictures

For Labor Day weekend I went to Texas to visit my family and friends and eat Mexican food.  It was glorious.  Not glorious?  The 5:40am flight out of Pittsburgh.  We boarded at 5:00am, which means I had to wake up and leave for the airport at approximately the time of night/morning I used to stumble home from the bars, back when I was young and fun and actually went to bars.

Here is a picture I took out the window of the plane, the plane on which every single other person was asleep.  Lucky me, I can't sleep on planes, so I just sat there and listened to old podcasts and stared out the window.  I don't know why I thought this was a good idea and I promised myself I will never take a 5:40am flight again.  Unless it's significantly cheaper, or the last flight out of a country before a coup or something.

The upside to such an early flight was that I arrived in Austin with an entire day ahead of me.  My mom picked me up at the airport and we headed directly to brunch at Kerbey Lane Cafe, which is my favorite place ever.  I had migas tacos with queso and it was amazing.

Later that day my dad and I went to get coffee and chat.  He insisted I take his picture with my new iPhone.

Also taken with my iPhone:  a picture of a picture of us when I was just a little bit younger.  My dad is about 45 in this picture but I think he looks like a freakin movie star.  Those looking-young genes are going to come in handy for me, I can tell.

I also took a picture of this gem, from my senior year of high school (2001-2002).  This hangs in the hallway at my parents' house and my mom swears she will never take it down.  Please take special note of the boots and cowboy hat, which at the time I thought were real cute.  Also, my high school colors were purple and white.  Worst team colors in the history of the world.  Our football players wore bright purple spandex pants.  Pretty manly and intimidating, that.

Please also take a look at the horrible haircut that I got on Friday morning, from a woman who has probably been cutting my hair for about 8 years.  I told her I wanted a TRIM and she cut off at least 6 effing inches.

For comparison, here is a picture from two weeks ago.  Not exactly a trim, amiright?  At the suggestion of Jive Turkey, I bought some prenatal vitamins to try to grow it back out to something I don't hate as quickly as possible.  The look on D's face when I reached for those at Target the other night was almost worth the bad haircut.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, full of un-tragic fashion choices and good hair days!

No, that's not a trim. But if it's any consolation, the cut looks good! I find shorter hair is easier to take care of. But, either way, it always grows back! Always. I promise :)

Our high school team colors were purple & white also. But the football team wore purple & black. It was a little more testosterone-inclined.

Wow, when you tweeted about the hair mishap, I never would have guessed it was someone you've been going to for 8 years! How could she not have known what you wanted when you said "trim"? That's just infuriating.

I can't believe she cut THAT MUCH OFF when you asked for a Trim. What in the what!

Sounds like a fun trip home, though. Tacos for breakfast? Sign me up!!

I hate it when that happens! On the upside, the new cut looks very cute!

I want one of those tacos right now. Hairdressers ALWAYS do that! I don't know what "trim" means to them, but its definitely different than what it means to me!

Awww, I think your hair looks good. But, I'm not you and don't have to hate it everyday. May you come to peace with it sooner, rather than later!
