It's Thursday, which means it's Wine and Love time! I don't know how much longer I'm going to be doing these, but this week I have a lot to update y'all on. Head on over to Nora's if you want to participate!
First the W(h)ines:
-Yesterday I was so enjoying sitting outside during lunch with a friend that I completely neglected to realize that my neck was getting sunburned. Yes, I am now literally a redneck. And I'm also going to be much more careful about proper sun coverage now that it's apparently summer out.
- I have been ravenously hungry lately. I don't know what's up with that, but it's kind of annoying. I fall somewhere in between "live to eat" and "eat to live" but if there was a pill I could take to not be hungry (you know, something that was easy, magical, and FDA-approved) I would totally take it. Seriously, I just want to feel full for a few hours.
-A wonderful, dear friend just found out her mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is breaking my heart that I don't live closer and can only comfort her from afar. I feel so helpless and sad for her.
Things I'm Loving:
-My boyfriend, the brilliant Physics PhD student, just got his midterm test grades back. He's taking three classes this semester, and he got not one but TWO perfect scores of 100 on these midterms, and did really well on the third one as well. I am so, so proud of how hard he's been working. He's a modest guy but I'm pretty much convinced he's on his way to a Nobel prize. Literally.
-I'm enrolled to take a summer class! Although it was kind of a pain in the butt and no one seemed to understand that I just wanted to take a class for fun, I finally got admitted and registered. For the second summer session starting in July I'm taking a Women's Lit class and I'm really excited. This is a benefit that I get through my employer and while not too many people take advantage of it "just for fun" I say why not?!
-I feel like I say this every week but the company I freelance for has been insanely busy lately, and every weekend I've had at least one huge project. Last weekend I worked 15 hours! This means that D and I are able to study and work together side-by-side at a coffeehouse or on our back porch, and that I'm continuously adding to the trip fund. I'm also loving that in March I get three paychecks instead of two!
-The weather has been amazing lately. I know March is supposed to be rainy and dreary but I say keep the cloudless, 80-degree days coming! I've been taking a walk at lunch every day and I also walk the 1.75 miles home after work, and it is such a mood booster. Although now it's occurring to me that maybe this extra 3 miles a day has something to do with my extreme hunger...
-Tomorrow is Friday! That's always enough to put a smile on my face.

Wow, your boyfriend rocks at the midterms! Congrats to him!
I got sunburned on my upper chest walking to the park with the kidlets the other day. I felt foolish for not realizing it. Guess I better get out the sunblock :)
Thanks for joining this week; I may actually be abandoning wine and love soon on the blog anyway so we'll see how it goes! May make it monthly rather than weekly...
Wow, that is crazy about the freelance work - that is ALOT of hours on a weekend! But yea for funding your vacation!! :)
Wine: Studying. But you already knew that was a wine of mine. ;)
Love: The weather has been great and it is so good to be doing workouts with my run club again!!
A summer class for fun sounds great! Now I want to go and see what the local college is offering!
I love that it is warm enough for you to get a red neck! That is kind of a wine and a love!
When my dad spent a year at a Northern California university, my mom opted not to work. She audited (for fun!) a number of classes and I don't remember it being all that big a deal. So silly that something your employer offers is a pain to actually take advantage of. But, it sounds like you'll be joining a really interesting book club! =)
