It’s been two weeks since my last update and I feel like a lot has happened in that time! Most of it has been good though, so I’m back with a happy update. Hop on over to Nora's to link up and read hers!
Things that have me reaching for the bottle of wine:
I feel like it has been raining in Pittsburgh for approximately three months. Seriously, it was raining when I got on the plane on Wednesday morning and it was raining when I stepped off the plane on Sunday night. And I’m pretty sure it rained most of the days in between. It's also rained every day this week. Dislike. At this point I’d rather have snow than rain.
Living so far from my amazing Austin friends. I really really miss Austin, and going back to visit is wonderful but it only makes me that much more sad to have to leave again. Plus it just makes me think that Pittsburgh is no where near to being as awesome as Austin. Not even close.
Now that my Christmas present shopping is pretty much done, my wallet is feeling much lighter. That plus trying to eliminate my last remaining student loan debt means I need to cut back on eating out and other non-necessities for a while. Here’s to hoping I have a few more freelance projects before the end of the year!
Things I’m Loving:
Last weekend, before we left town for Thanksgiving, D and I had the chance to spend some quality time together with nary a Physics book or project in sight. That’s right, we didn’t do any work all weekend and it was glorious. Definitely not something we can afford to do every weekend (especially with finals breathing down D’s neck) but it was really nice to relax and just spend time with each other. The weather was really nice too and overall it was just a great weekend.
Last Tuesday I got the sweetest package from my Austin friends, full of local and special-to-me items that remind me of them and of the great city we met in. These gals are the best friends anyone could hope for, and even if I can’t live in the same city as them I’m glad to have such wonderful people in my life.
I got some new running shoes while I was in Austin (I'm so loyal to RunTex it's ridiculous) and they’re so cushiony and awesome! It makes a huge difference to have shoes that aren’t all squished down from 500+ miles of running.
I’m so glad to have a free gym membership that is close to work and home (I go to the one at D's school). While I’m not crazy about running on the treadmill as a general rule, so far it hasn’t been that bad. Plus it’s less than a month until the winter solstice and then the days will slowly start to get longer again!
I’m headed back to Texas on December 21st for Christmas and I can hardly wait! I’m so lucky to have a LOOONG Christmas break (Dec. 23-Jan. 3). Plus I have fun stuff planned in between now and then. I have a feeling time is really going to fly.
