Things have been insanely busy lately, which doesn’t leave much time for blogging. A few things:
-I’m so glad it is no longer pitch black outside when I leave work at the end of the day. It’s usually light long enough for me to go for a run outside (if the weather is cooperating) and not have to start out in total darkness. I mean, it’s still dark by the time I’m done, but I know it’ll only get better.
-The weather in Chicago lately has been so crummy. It’s either freezing cold (still! There was a dusting of snow on the ground when I walked outside yesterday morning!) or *slightly* warmer (40-45 degrees) but disgustingly wet and muggy. It also has been overcast for DAYS, weeks even. I have forgotten what the sun looks like.
-This weekend is Chicago’s big St. Patrick’s Day celebration and I am so excited. We’re going to watch them dye the river green, catch the parade, and do some day drinking. It’s going to be awesome.
-Next weekend I’m headed to North Carolina to visit my sister. I haven’t been to NC in about ten years, and I’ve never seen my sister’s neck of the woods, so I’m really excited. My parents are going to meet me there and it’ll be a big ole family reunion. As my sister put it “the whole famdamily is going to be up hurr in mah hills.” She takes her newfound role as hillbilly pretty seriously, as you can see.
-D and I are still trying to decide where to go for a big vacation. It’s been almost two years since we went to Paris (Flight/Arrival, Day One, Day Two, Day Three, and Day Four) and I am determined to go on another big trip before he starts school. We’re running out of time! Any suggestions? My only stipulation is that I want to go some place I’ve not been before, which rules out most of Western Europe, West Africa, and most of the continental United States. And Mexico and Costa Rica. When we get to this part of the conversation, D just rolls his eyes and says “You’ve been everywhere!”
-TGIF, for reals.
