If you go to the winter Lincoln Park farmer's market (which has no entry fee and is held in the lobby and upstairs conference room of the museum), you get into the museum (and butterfly sanctuary) for free.
There's even a sweet little lady who sits at a table by the entry to the museum proper and will watch your purchases for free while you explore.
