I have hit a plateau. My weight is not going up anymore, thank goodness, but it is also not going down. I have been hitting the gym SO HARD in the last couple weeks, and eating so many fruits and vegetables instead of candy (sweet sweet candy) and still! nothing! So, today I did a vary different kind of cardio workout. I walked at a 6% incline for a mile, then ran at a 4% incline for a mile and a half, then sprinted at a 0% incline for a mile and a half, and then walked at a 6% incline again for a half mile. My legs, they are shaky and sore, for the first time in a looong time. After all that walking uphill, it actually felt like I was running downhill when the treadmill was at 0% grade. Usually I'm barely holding on at 6.5 miles an hour but today I flew. Who knew? So I'm sticking to cardio but variation is going to be key in the next couple of weeks. That is, until I graduate and can no longer use the beautiful new gym that is included in my student fees. After that I will be plodding along on the very flat lakefront path longing for air conditioning and a TV with CNN. And to think that I used to scoff at the idea of running on a treadmill. Let this be a lesson: people can change.
