They Tried To Make Me Go To Rehab
Yesterday the extremely bubbly OT told me I was a smart cookie (I can't remember why...). My dad chimed in with "She's leaving for grad school in a month!" You should have seen the look on her face. Apparently they all think I'm 16, not 24. One day, 40 years from now, I will be glad people are subtracting almost a decade from my age.
All Things Considered
This weekend was actually pretty good, all things considered. On Friday night I went to the Zilker Hillside Theater's summer musical--it was Beauty and the Beast this year. The girl who played Belle had a fantastic voice. As we were all getting settled in on our blankets, I glanced at the people setting up next to us. They were blond-haired, blue-eyed, and incredibly wholesome looking. They also had four boys under the age of five. I looked at Amy and whispered "they look like Mormons." A couple minutes later she grabbed my arm and pointed to an airport tag on their stroller: they were from Salt Lake City. I stared, wide-eyed and in awe. THEN we spotted the garment--shirt and shorts--and it was all over after that. We couldn't stop staring and congratulating ourselves all night. It's official: we have Mormon-dar.
Saturday I went to the hospital, then to ballet, then back to the hospital, then home, then back to the hospital, then to Target. Thrilling.
Sunday I got up reallllly early and went and got my dad breakfast from Texas French Bread, his favorite place. They have fantastic coffee and decent croissants. I headed to the hospital for a couple hours and ate breakfast with him and watched/helped him do leg therapy. His therapist is extremely adorable. Then I headed to Barton Springs to go swimming with Abi and Amy. It isn't summer without a couple trips to Barton and yesterday the weather was perfect. And by perfect I mean really hot and extremely sunny. I reapplied sunscreen about 7 times but still managed to get some sun on my shoulders. Grr. Then we went to Kerbey Lane, where I was able to eat CHIPS and QUESO. Kerbey Queso was pretty much the highlight of my weekend. I met up with the boy, headed back to the hospital for a while, and then home to get some rest. All in all, a good weekend, all things considered.
