Duke: rejected me, but we knew that story already.
Northwestern: rejected me, but its a small school and I didn't expect to get in.
Kansas: rejected me, surprisingly, but I reallllly didn't want to go there
Ohio State: rejected me, and I am completely indifferent to that. I'm not even sure where Ohio is.
Ann Arbor: rejected me, kind of knew that one was coming.
Now come the hard ones:
IU Bloomington: rejected by my number one choice, even though I was accepted (and didn't go! why?!) for undergrad, even though my parents went there, even though Susan Gubar put in a word for me. Sad day.
UNC Chapel Hill: rejected by my number two choice, even though I was accepted (and didn't go! why?!) for undergrad. Even though I met someone ON THE COMMITTEE while at MLA, who was going to put in a word for me, who conversed with me via email and introduced me to current grad students. Crushed. The rejection letter encouraged me to apply again next year and while some optimists (read: my mom) think "this is a good sign" I kind of think they just want more non-refundable application fees from me.
Still waiting on:
UT Austin
Michigan State
And finally, accepted to:
UNC Greensboro: don't really want to go here
Chicago: for a masters, would have to re-apply for the PhD program.
