Living Situation

So, I haven't found a place to live yet. Believe me, this is not for lack of looking. Nothing close to where I live now is even near affordable for one person of my income, which is to say moderate-to-destitute, depending on how you look at it. Our current lease is up on June 15, less than 2 months out. The roommate hasn't even started looking. Another friend was going to live with her boyfriend until her parents freaked out and refused to pay for a wedding if she lived with him before they were married. Now, said friend has a 3/2 "on hold" in a nice apartment complex considerably further north than where I live now, but because it is so far north, and a 3/2, it is much cheaper than the 1/1's I've been looking at, and even the place I live now. What should I do? Convince the roommate that we should move in with friend (who roommate has lived with before and can therefore attest to the awesomeness of said friend) and compromise location for price and not-having-to-live-alone-ness, or soldier on alone, closer to campus and work, and (literally) pay the price?
